As you know, I work with 3 year olds. One of the highlights of working with kids this age is that they say the awesomest things. Sometimes they say things like "Mrs. Yeager is there a baby in your belly?" and then proceed to poke at my non-pregnant flabby belly. Then they are not so much awesome as they are annoyingly observant.
This is not one of my kids but I can very easily see one of them describing the best movie of all time.
I cannot wait for Princess Sofia to talk.

I appologize for not posting often these days...I have been busy with school and work and being a new wife...no one ever tells you how hard it is!!!

Cute babies
that aren't Sofia! You may not know this but I actually have other nieces and nephews in my life. My husband is one of 16 children and at last count there are at 20+ nieces and newphews on the Yeager side of the family ranging from 15 years to 1 week old.
So in an effort to make this blog more even to both sides of my family...meet Ava and Greyson. Aren't they cute?
They are so sweet. Greyson will be dedicated at the end of the month so we get to see him and his sister along with the rest of the family.
I must also welcome the newest member of the Yeager Clan, Damien Alexander, born on Tues Jan 29 at 8lbs 10 oz.
Welcome Damien! Your uncle and I cannot wait to meet you!

Walk for Jen
For those of you who have been reading my blog since the beginning, you will remember my post about my friend Jen, who at 30 was diagnosed with stage IV colon cancer.
I am happy to report that Jen is doing well considering the amount of surgery and chemo that she has had since her diagnosis. One of the feelings I had when Jen told me about the cancer was a sense of uselessness that I could not help her or her family.
Jen sent me the following e-mail today:
"Dear Friends and Family,
On Sunday March 30th, I will be participating in the Fourth Annual Scope It Out 5KTM Run/Walk for Colon Cancer Awareness, a not-for-profit fundraising/awareness race, being held at 8:00 a.m. in West Potomac Park, Washington, D.C., during National Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month. The cost is $25 and you receive a t-shirt for your support. To date, Scope It Out 5KTM has raised over $185,000 to further colorectal cancer research and awareness.
I invite you to join me in the walk to raise awareness that this cancer is not just an old person’s disease. Proceeds from the walk go to the Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center at Georgetown, Prevent Cancer Foundation and the Colon Cancer Alliance. The Lombardi Center is where I receive top-notch treatment from my extraordinary team of doctors and nurses. Walking is my way of thanking Lombardi for all the hope, care and understanding they give to me on a daily basis.
Colorectal cancer is the second-leading cause of U.S. cancer deaths for men and women combined. Colorectal cancer affects people of all ethnic backgrounds. Every year, nearly 150,000 people in the U.S. are diagnosed with the disease, and nearly 60,000 die. More than 13,000 colorectal cancer cases are diagnosed each year in people under the age of 50. By the time symptoms occur (intestinal pain, blood in the stool), colorectal cancer has often metastasized to another organ.
My journey with colorectal cancer began on June 10, 2007. Before that day I was a healthy 30 year old with a 21 month old son and a bright future. My cancer metastasized to my liver and lymph nodes. Because of my age, my serious condition and otherwise healthy body, my doctors aggressively began my treatment. On June 25th the prime tumor was removed and I was given a colostomy (a surgical operation that creates an artificial anus through an opening made in the abdomen from the colon). Three weeks later 85 % of my liver was resected, gallbladder removed and my portal vein and bile duct rerouted. I recovered from both surgeries remarkably well.
Six weeks after liver surgery, I began chemotherapy to eradicate leftover cancer cells and to shrink a pelvic mass that grew between surgery and the onset of chemo. Chemotherapy was successful in stabilizing the tumor, but because of the nature of the mass surgery was the only option. So on December 12th, I underwent a radical hysterectomy and removal of two football size tumors encasing my ovaries. Again I recovered quickly. Even though my scans are clear for now, I am undergoing six more months of chemo. I am hopeful that with the help of my doctors and God that I will beat this disease.
Someone said that cancer patients are the lucky ones and I believe it. Cancer has opened up my world and introduced me to amazing human beings. I am grateful everyday for the small blessings- my son’s laughter, my husband’s smile or a letter from a stranger saying that they heard my story and were compelled to write to me to let me know that I’m in their prayers. God’s challenge has given me the chance to meet angels on earth and kindred spirits. I know my cancer experience has a greater meaning and I intend to use it to help others struggling with this disease.

Friday Evening Book MeMe
Ok, so it is Saturday morning but my sister-in-law Lisa tagged me for a Friday Evening Book MeMe.
The rules are: take the book closest to you right now, turn to page 123 find the fifth sentence and then write the next 3 full sentences in your post. Here is what I have:

This is taken from "To Hell With Love: Poems to Mend a Broken Heart" by Mary D. Esselman & Elizabeth Ash Velez. It is sitting on my bookshelf in my living room since my friend Chrissy brought it back to me last weekend. I had loaned it to her roommate a few years back when her boyfriend broke up with her for no reason. It is a great book which follows the stages of grief and talks you through how you are feeling when a relationship ends.
I forgot I even had it until Chrissy brought it back to me. The book was a gift from my friend Melissa who worked with Mary Esselman's husband. She and I have been through many a troubled time involving men and heartache. She thought it might come in handy in the future. I on the other hand have given the book to many friends to help them through in their time of need. The poems are beautiful and the message powerful. The authors have gone on to write two more books "Kiss off: Poems to set you free" and "You drive me crazy: Love poems for real life." I have not read them but I am sure they are great.

An ex-roommates wise musings
I recently reconnected with my freshman year roommate, Sarah, on facebook and was delighted to discover that she has twin boys and a very insightful blog called Office Meets Playground. Good information
I know that it has been months since my wedding but I just want to reiterate how great my wedding photographers were. Mike and Rachel Allebach are amazing! They have this great blog which is chock full of info for Philly brides and grooms. Planning a wedding can be so hard and there is so much information out there. If you live in or near Philly and are planning a wedding you should check it out. You will not be disappointed.

Awesome Awesome Awesome!!!!
Words cannot express what an amazing movie U2 3D is!!! If you are even a remote U2 fan see this movie. If you are a lover of technology see this movie. It was amazing! The boys pulled out all the stops and as usual are on the top of their game.
Highlights:
Being able to watch Larry drum up close - you can even see his orange soda drink shake as he thumps away.
Love and Peace or Else = drool
Bono "wipes your tears away" almost literally during Sunday Bloody Sunday.
The band members "touching". My fellow fans will understand why this is exciting!
The throng of thousands of Argentinian fans swaying to the music and singing at the top of their lungs!
The lightening bolt smile Larry gives at the end as he waves goodbye to the crowd - priceless!
Seriously, though, it is an amazing concert film which captures U2's Stadium show brilliantly. I only got to see Vertigo in arena's and now I feel like I was there in that Soccer Stadium with 80,000 screaming fans. Something I have always wanted to do but am afraid to do because I fear being trampled to death.
There were some songs that I would have liked to have seen played - City of Blinding Lights being one of them but I am not complaining in the least.
After the credits are over the band thanks it's fans and says that this movie is for them.
Um, THANK YOU, Bono, Larry, Edge and Adam for embracing technology and giving us this amazing present.

Hello Hello - I am THRILLED to see Vertigo...Live in 3D!
U2 3D opens here in KOP on Wed. I have a ticket for the 12:30pm showing. For the first time I do not have to take off work or drive millions of miles to see the band I love live. I just wish my ex-roomie Gina could be there to see it with me. Alas we will see it together when it comes to the Franklin Institute. U2 brought us together one fateful night at the 4P's in Washington DC. It has been a fun and rock n' rollin' ride ever since!
The reviews of this movie have been outstanding. To say I am excited is an understatement!!!

Every Little Thing's Gonna Be Alright...
Sorry again for not posting but Dan and I have just gotten back from a long weekend in Jamaica. We returned to Montego Bay again, this time staying at the flagship Sandals. It was a blast - a VERY fun group of people and lots of yummy frozen drinks. Here are some pics.

We had so much fun and as much as I hate to admit it - I feel a hundred times better now that I am a bit tan. I just invested in some Arbonne self tanner and their amazing bronzer so hopefully I can keep the illusion of said tan through the bulk of the winter.
Next week I start grad classes again. My books alone this semester will be over $300 which does not please me at all but it needs to be done. Luckily I got some gift cards from my students so it should help frey the costs a bit.
Iam excited about this year...I don't know if it was Jamaica that rejuvinated my saging spirits or not but I am looking forward to graduating and then to our trip to Italy...we are going in June for 2 weeks to visit my Grandmother. I am taking Dan to the Amalfi Coast - his first visit - and I am looking forward to taking him to Capri and Pompeii. We are staying at this awesome hotel The Grand Hotel Excelsior in Amalfi thanks to my brother's recommendation. The views are breath taking and I am officially excited.
After Amalfi we are renting a car and driving from Salerno to Alba Adriatica in Abruzzo. Oddly enough, Avis has rental car locations in both towns - what are the odds. We will spend a few days at my family's appartment in Alba and then we will see my Nonna. I have not seen her in 2 years so I am looking forward to it!!! I cannot wait to show her our wedding video - I really wish she could have come to the wedding but alas it was not to be. She will be 87 this year so her days of traveling to the US are over.
OK, back to watching the game...can the Jags beat NE's streak?!?!?! Go Jags!!!

The year in review...some thoughts...
Thanks to the ever amazing sognatrice for the idea of doing a me me to wrap up the New Year.
I have been a bit absent these last few weeks and I apologize.
Seeing as I started the blog in Feb I have a least a year's worth of reflecting to do.
1. What did you do in 2007 that you’d never done before? Went to Tuscon, San Diego, Jamaica and St. Lucia, Got married!, started teaching, started a blog, became and aunt!
2. Did you keep your new year’s resolutions, and will you make more for next year? I can't remember if I made any but I am sure I did not keep them if I did. This year the only resolution I am making is to be content with all the wonderful things that God has seen fit to give me.
3. Did anyone close to you give birth? Hell yes! My sister-in-law Lisa gave birth to Sofia Vincenza March 29, my sister-in-law Evie to Greyson, my friend Dawn to Jacob Zachary, my friend Bert to Liam Francis, my friend Amara to Jenna, my friend James' wife Kerrie to Finn, my friend Annie to Caleb Steven, my friend Sean's wife, Elise to Maggie, my ex-GU roommate Rogerwene to Catherine Lily, my friend Laura to Bennet, my ex-Alexandria roommate Eleanor to Reese Aida and most recently my sister-in-law Michelle to Hannah Caroline on Dec 24. It's raining babies!
4. Did anyone close to you die? My mom's friend Mrs. Emma a few weeks after our wedding. We just got our wedding video and it is great to see her dancing and having fun.
5. What countries did you visit? St. Lucia and Jamaica
6. What would you like to have in 2008 that you lacked in 2007? A baby! A Master's Degree.
7. What dates from 2007 will remain etched upon your memory, and why? March 29 - the birth of my niece, Sept 22 - my wedding day.
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year? Quitting a job that I did not like and finding one that I loved! oh yeah and getting married :-)
9. What was your biggest failure? Gaining 20lbs after my wedding :-(
10. Did you suffer illness or injury? I was just diagnosed with high blood pressure and put on meds...other than that nothing thank goodness!
11. What was the best thing you bought? My wedding dress
12. Whose behavior merited celebration? My sister-in-law Lisa for giving birth to the most beautiful baby ever! And Bono for the continued inspiration to create clean water projects in Africa.
13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed? Our prez...can we get a new one already?
14. Where did most of your money go? Our wedding and tuition for grad school
15. What did you get really, really, really excited about? My niece's birth and my wedding!

25. What was your greatest musical discovery? Hope "Who am I to say" is an amazing song!

My sister-in-law Lisa gave birth to Sofia Vincenza March 29, my sister-in-law Evie to Greyson, my friend Dawn to Jacob Zachary, my friend Bert to Liam Francis, my friend Amara to Jenna, my friend James' wife Kerrie to Finn, my friend Annie to Caleb Steven, my friend Sean's wife, Elise to Maggie, my ex-GU roommate Rogerwene to Catherine Lily, my friend Laura to Bennet, my ex-Alexandria roommate Eleanor to Reese Aida and most recently my sister-in-law Michelle to Hannah Caroline on Dec 24. It's raining babies!
4. Did anyone close to you die? My mom's friend Mrs. Emma a few weeks after our wedding. We just got our wedding video and it is great to see her dancing and having fun.
5. What countries did you visit? St. Lucia and Jamaica
6. What would you like to have in 2008 that you lacked in 2007? A baby! A Master's Degree.
7. What dates from 2007 will remain etched upon your memory, and why? March 29 - the birth of my niece, Sept 22 - my wedding day.
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year? Quitting a job that I did not like and finding one that I loved! oh yeah and getting married :-)
9. What was your biggest failure? Gaining 20lbs after my wedding :-(
10. Did you suffer illness or injury? I was just diagnosed with high blood pressure and put on meds...other than that nothing thank goodness!
11. What was the best thing you bought? My wedding dress
12. Whose behavior merited celebration? My sister-in-law Lisa for giving birth to the most beautiful baby ever! And Bono for the continued inspiration to create clean water projects in Africa.
13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed? Our prez...can we get a new one already?
14. Where did most of your money go? Our wedding and tuition for grad school
15. What did you get really, really, really excited about? My niece's birth and my wedding!
16. What song will always remind you of 2007? This is hard. Probably our wedding song - I Belong to You by Eros Ramazzotti and Anastacia

(a) way happier (b) um, yeah way fatter (c) poorer...I quit my well paying office job to teach but am so much the better for it!

20. How did you spend Christmas? Christmas Eve working at La Locanda - Christmas Day with my parents.
21. Did you fall in love in 2007? Yes, with my niece
22. What was your favorite TV program? Oooh, tough one. It's a tie between Lost and Project Runway
23. Do you hate anyone now that you didn’t hate this time last year? Hate is such a strong word...I guess I hate the person that invented Pizza...cause it's sooooo goooood.
24. What was the best book you read? A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini - The runner up - The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls.
25. What was your greatest musical discovery? Hope "Who am I to say" is an amazing song!
26. What did you want and get? A baby niece!!!
27. What did you want and not get? A smaller waist line
28. What was your favorite film of this year? We really don't go to the movies...but we liked 300.
29. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you? I was 34 and I was in class that night so I didn't do anything. Dan took me to dinner later that week.
30. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying? Not much - it was a pretty great year!
31. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2007? Please let this fit me!!

33. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most? Daniel Craig. I never thought I would say this but he is better than Pierce - who knew?

36. Who was the best new person you met? Barb & Suzanne, the teachers in my classroom

Bath Time Giggles
Tonight my baby bro turns 30...so in honor of his b-day I am posting a video of his beautiful daughter at bath time...Anth, you have come a long way from that hyperactive, Transformer obsessed little boy. Your daughter is precious!

So many things to blog about so little time
My hubby and I just went into our basement to find that it had flooded overnight - yikes! So not what we need right now!!! Anyway I apologize for being MIA - I had finals which are now over - yee haw! I think I did well and now I have a break until mid-Jan when I tackle 3 more classes...but then in May I will have my Masters in Ed so it will be worth it!
I had my last Toddler Talk class on Tuesday - the kids were so cute - and I got gifts!!! My first as a teacher - so exciting! Toddler Talk starts up again Jan 22 so I will try to post some of our crafts for your entertainment pleasure - it was something that I wanted to do all along but never got around to photographing the final products we made.
Sofia went to see Santa yesterday - she was enthralled by him and could not tear her eyes away...

Sofia went to see Santa yesterday - she was enthralled by him and could not tear her eyes away...
She is so cute!!! She is coming over in a little bit so her mommy and I can check out the new Steve and Barry's - aka Best. Store. Ever. which just opened up in my neighborhood. We are talking walking distance people - this could be a problem.
Other than that I am working at La Locanda and trying to get our house in order. We painted the office/den yesterday - finally - so things are coming together a little bit at a time.
