New Beginnings

This week has been a blur. I started a new job on Monday - part-time - for an academic consultant. I am her assistant and it is really a lot of fun. Laid back casual atmosphere - she works out of her home which happens to be in my parents neighborhood so I can stop in and say hi when I am done work. It is so much better than my other job. She is really flexible too so it is perfect.

Dan and I leave for San Diego tomorrow. Going to visit our friends, Mike and Dawn, before they move back to this area. I have never been so it is bound to be exciting. Only downside is that I started classes this week and I have a BOATLOAD of reading to do. A paper due next Wed and of course we are going to be gone all weekend so I have to figure out how to write the paper while on vacation! Sheesh! I will be glad to have these classes over with - I go Mon and Wed from 4:30 - 10 pm. It is a HUGE drag - campus is empty - I have to pack my own dinner since there is nothing open while I am there. Boo.

Other than that things are well. I visited Sofia last night and helped give her a bath. She is filling out - she has a dr app this week so we will see how much weight she has gained. My little peanut. Her baptism is next week so I will be sure to post pictures.

OK, I have to run - get some reading done before I head over to work.

I will post when I get back from San Diego!

ciao, ciao!

Little Pink Dresses

I saw Princess Sofia today and she is getting so big!!!! I cannot stand how utterly beautiful she is. Here are two photos of her from Mother's Day wearing the cutest little dress. Sigh.

It's like she is a little doll. Tonight she was so cute. She LOVES her daddy (my brother) I can see the boys chasing after her already - and my brother trying his best to keep his little girl aways from all those unworthy boys.

I was so busy yesterday at work trying to clean out my desk etc that I forgot to post about MY LAST DAY!!! YAY!!! I already feel like a 100 ton weight is lifted off my shoulders. I have about 6 weeks to get my house in order until I start looking for a new job - unless my sister in law decides to go back to work in which case I will be watching Sofia part time (sweet). I just really need the break form work now. Classes start up again on Monday...I will be in class Mon & Wed 4:30 - 10:15 until the end of June. The last of my general ed requirements for my Masters. After that I can start concentrating on my reading classes - yay!

Other than that not much going on. I tried my wedding dress on today at my mom's house. It fit perfectly - which is good because I hope to drop at least 15-20lbs before I have to have it altered. Strange, you say, yes, but I want to have to alter it - that means that I have lost weight. Anyway, the dress is beautiful, simple and elegant and exactly what I wanted. We needed to see how it would look with my mom's veil...the something old I will be wearing that day...since we are making some alterations to it. The veil is super long to be used as is so we need to have it shortened a bit and have lace added to it etc. Yeah, exciting stuff I know but I am so pleased with how effortless the whole dress hunt was. Got the first dress I tried on. And I still love it after all these months have passed. Yay!

OK, enough babbling for now. I have to go upstairs and watch LOST Secrets which I missed on Thursday. Words cannot even describe how excited I am to see the season finale! I cried my eyes out at Charlie's epi - now we have to wait and see what happens...and then wait until Jan for the new season - boo! Oh well, it gives us the summer to re-watch all three seasons. Sweet.

Engagement Pics

A couple of weeks ago, Dan and I headed down to the Philadelphia Museum of Art to get our engagement photos taken. For those of you who have never been to Philly, the Art Museum is where the famous "Rocky Steps" are - where Rocky ran up the steps in the movie.

It was a great day - our photographer, Mike, of Allebach Photography, is amazing. We had a blast. Click here to see his blog where 2 photos from our shoot are featured. We get the rest next week. I am so excited to see the rest!!!

Tomorrow is my last day at work so I will do a celebratory post just for fun.

Lates.

6.5

Well, it has been 10 days since I started Training with Toni and I have lost 6.5 lbs. I would do a little victory dance but I can barely move my legs. This morning's session didn't make me cry but I came close. I guess that means I am getting better. Or it could mean I am close to death. It could go either way at this point.

I am babysitting Sofia tonight so hopefully I will have more super cute pictures of the little peanut tomorrow. Ummmmm, peanuts.

Weekend Re-Cap

Sorry if I have been MIA. I have been desperately trying to finish my papers for today - mission partially accomplished. I still have my Human Development paper to write but the prof said we could mail it to him within the next two weeks so I have a bit of leeway. I really need to get it done before summer session starts, though, just so I can start with a clean slate.

Instead of writing my HD paper I decided to procrastinate and go to Bed Bath and Beyond to see what fun organizer things I could buy for my house. I ended up with this

You know you have been procrastinating when you decide you need to organize your underwear drawer. I also bought some Yankee Candles

Very nice choices I might add.

Then I went to Marshalls and bought some pink dresses for my niece because she is the cutest niece ever. And then I went home. Pretty boring Sunday if I do say so myself.

Now my co-worker is out for the week having fun in the sun in Key West so work will be more horrendous than usual...but that is OK because only 10 more work days left. Yippeee!!!!

Hope you all have a fantastic Monday!

Abs of ... definitely not steel

In an effort to look half decent at my wedding, I have hired my fabulous cousin Toni to whip my ass into shape for the next 5 months. We meet Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 7am at the fitness center in her complex. Today was my second session with her. Every single muscle in my body wants to jump out of my skin and run away.

I think that I had convinced myself that Toni was more of a "fitness expert" (whatever that means) than trainer. Boy was I wrong. Today she causally mentioned her friend "Jackie" as in Bravo TV's "Work Out" series Jackie and how she trains with her when she is in LA visiting her sister. I barely heard her since my muscles were screaming and my brain was crying because let's face it - I am an out of shape, middle aged woman, who thinks she is still a size 8 regardless of the fact that she no longer works out and eats whatever you put in front of her.

It was grim this morning when my alarm went off at 6:30. I almost called her and told her to forget it. My abs were so sore it hurt to cough or laugh, every time I turned around in bed last night I was reminded of my work out on Monday and not in a good way. But I didn't call her - I got my ass out of bed and went to see her. How pathetic is it that I can barely do 5 push ups? And my dress is strapless - how sad for my enormous flabby out of shape arms. At least we have 5 months to make this happen. Toni seems confident that it will happen. I am still not convinced.

OK, back to work. I will keep you posted on the results of my training - which also involves a detailed nutrition plan designed by Toni herself. Bye, bye Lime flavored Tortilla chips, Pepperoni pizza and Godiva truffles...hello organic green apples and water!
